Illustrated book “The Mondego River Tells Its Story: The Story of Afonso Duarte”

The Montemor-o-Velho School Group will receive, for all students in the 1st Cycle, the illustrated book "The Mondego River Tells: The Story of Afonso Duarte", published by the Afonso Duarte Poet Association (APAD).

This book is aimed at younger readers with the goal of introducing them to Afonso Duarte, a native of the municipality of Montemor-o-Velho, specifically the parish of Ereira.

Through this book, you can discover the life and work of Afonso Duarte through the Mondego River, which in the book assumes the role of narrator.

 “The Mondego River Tells: The Story of Afonso Duarte”, with text by Ana Lopes and illustrations by Luana Costa, was developed in partnership with the Coimbra Higher School of Education (ESEC) and published with the support of the Central Region Coordination and Development Commission (CCDRC). The project was coordinated by Afonso Costa (great-nephew of Afonso Duarte) and Mauro David Coelho (APAD), and by Sílvia Espada (ESEC).” (see news on the Montemor-o-Velho City Council website).
