TAKE CARE OF YOUR HEALTH – Screenings at School
As part of the Health Promotion and Education in Schools Project, and marking World Health Day, various health screenings and interactive activities were held on April 3rd at the Dr. José dos Santos Bessa Primary and Secondary School, aimed at the school community. The initiative included assessments of nutritional deficiencies, lung health, blood glucose levels, blood pressure, and vision. In addition to the screenings, students also participated in a... quiz about sleep and in an interactive activity about the consequences of excess weight, promoting active involvement and reflection on healthy lifestyle habits.

The main objectives of this activity were to raise students' awareness of the importance of health care and to provide them with access to assessments and essential information for adopting healthier behaviors in their daily lives, objectives that were successfully achieved.
The activity went very well and was only possible thanks to the generous collaboration of several health professionals, to whom we express our sincere gratitude: Dr. Vera Afonso (nutritionist), Dr. Judite Matias (optometrist - Optivisão de Montemor-o-Velho), as well as the pharmacists from Farmácia Dias e Amaral de Arazede – Dr. Beatriz Garrote, Dr. Maria José, Dr. Ana Abrunheiro and Dr. Susete Ribeiro.
Initiatives like this demonstrate the value of schools as promoters of health and well-being, reinforcing the importance of prevention and health education in the school environment.
