Health Ambassadors Project
The Montemor-o-Velho School Group welcomes the Health Ambassadors Project, an initiative of the ULS Baixo Mondego, which aims to promote health literacy among students in the 3rd cycle and secondary education through the co-creation of educational initiatives with specialized health professionals from ULSBM.
It focuses on an approach that positions young people as active protagonists in promoting health in their communities.
At the beginning of the school year, we presented the project to all classes in the 3rd cycle and secondary levels at AEMOV.
This outreach resulted in the creation of 4 ambassador groups within the school. All students volunteered on their own initiative by sending an email to the school health department. Currently, we have 28 ambassadors in the AEMOV group, divided into the following groups:
The Secondary School Ambassadors Group is working on the topic of consumption, implementing a validated questionnaire. The results of the diagnosis will be released, and interventions will subsequently be made, establishing priorities according to the diagnosis carried out.
The Ambassadors Group from the 3rd Cycle of the Montemor Basic and Secondary School are working on the issue of discrimination, creating a video with characters they designed, which is scheduled for release at the end of the second term.
The Ambassadors Group from the 3rd Cycle of Arazede are working on the topic of bullying, filming a short performance. We will begin filming later this month.
The Ambassadors Group of the 3rd Cycle of Carapinheira is working on two themes (prevention of cardiovascular diseases and bullying). An interview with a doctor from the Family Health Unit is scheduled to be recorded at the end of February. Regarding bullying, mailboxes specifically designed for this purpose have been distributed to collect testimonies of bullying. These testimonies will then be worked on individually at the school, publishing the testimony anonymously and collecting positive messages for the person who suffered the situation.
