Celebrating International Mathematics Day and Pi Day
As part of the celebrations for Mathematics Day and the Day of Pi, On March 14th, students in the 2nd cycle of the Basic and Secondary Schools of Montemor-o-Velho and Dr. José dos Santos Bessa da Carapinheira Basic School participated in a creative and engaging activity that highlighted the importance of Mathematics in a playful and artistic way.
Sixth-grade students were challenged to construct a representation of the number Pi, in three dimensions, giving wings to the imagination and demonstrating not only mathematical knowledge, but also great creativity and aesthetic sense. The 5th grade students explored... Tangram, creating various animal figures from their geometric pieces, demonstrating spatial reasoning and problem-solving skills.
All the work produced was displayed in the entrance hall of the Montemor-o-Velho Basic School and in the atrium of the multipurpose room at the Carapinheira Basic School, providing the entire educational community with the opportunity to appreciate the students' commitment and dedication.
The group behind this initiative recognizes and values the excellent involvement and active participation of the students, who contributed very positively to the success of this activity.
