Articulation Between Cycles
Learning, discovering, and strengthening bonds: connecting cycles.
As part of a project to connect the 1st and 2nd cycles of basic education, 4th and 5th grade students from the Pereira Basic and Secondary School participated in a series of activities that combined learning, movement, discovery, and cooperation.

The initiative focused on the areas of Physical Education and Natural Sciences, in conjunction with the Physical Education and Environmental Studies subjects of the 1st cycle, and was carried out through a treasure hunt/orienteering course organized into eight stations. Throughout the course, students were challenged to answer questions related to Environmental Studies and Natural Sciences content, as well as to carry out practical activities related to the properties of water: floating objects, observing and handling different types of animal coverings, and recycling.

The orientation component was particularly relevant, providing students with a closer and more attentive understanding of the school environment through active, guided, and collaborative exploration of different areas of the school. Beyond consolidating learning, this experience reinforced the recognition of the school as a space of belonging, encounter, and construction of shared experiences, also contributing to the strengthening of interpersonal and peer relationships in an environment of cooperation, mutual support, sharing, and closer connections between students of different grade levels, making the transition between grade levels more positive, personal, and meaningful.
