Collaborative Panel
Exploring the themes of urban art and illustration, the students of class 5D created a collaborative mural. This work emerged within the scope of a teacher training course that Professor Afonso Paiva was conducting, entitled 'Workshop on Training and Exploration of Means and Processes of Visual Arts'. This training is accredited and organized by APEVT (Association of Visual and Technological Education Teachers), in partnership with the pen and art materials brand 'EDDING'. The teachers who attended this training were challenged to create a 'collective mural' inspired by the work of Keith Haring, in a classroom context, with the theme "Art that moves among us". Following this premise, it was decided to create this work with the 5D class in Visual Education.
Starting with a large sheet of poster paper, each student was responsible for filling in a portion of this 'sheet', decorating it with different techniques: painting, drawing, and collage. For this project, the students were able to experiment with different materials from the aforementioned brand, such as broad-surface markers and spray paints. In creating this panel, the students learned more about the work of the artist in question and discovered the potential of some drawing and illustration techniques (in connection with the urban art that so defined Haring's work). With the teacher's guidance and supervision, the students decorated the panel and managed to create some visual combinations and harmonies, in addition to the portion of the sheet assigned to each one. The final result was colorful and vibrant, and the students had the opportunity to express their art more freely and spontaneously. The outcome was positive, and the work is on display in the school.
