District Children's Championship

Runners-up

        On May 6th, in Coimbra, the District Track and Field Championship for the Under-12 category took place. Ten schools with athletics teams in their educational projects participated, enthusiastically competing for the district titles in sprints, hurdles, endurance races and relays, high jump, long jump, and shot put.

Our school group participated in the competition with twenty-six excellent athletes and judges. The students Simão Monteiro, Henrique Bicho, Weverton Silva, Bianca Alves, Diana Carapeto, and Érica Mendes served as our judges.

At the end of this great journey, we achieved seven podium finishes, three of which correspond to district titles. We highlight the district champions:

Andrey Lopes – in the long jump and the 80 meters; Gabriela Faria – in the 1000-meter race.

Other honorable mentions:

– Miriam Duarte – 3rd place in the long jump;

– Gabriela Faria – 3rd place in the hurdles event;

– Miriam Duarte, Edeny Ellena, Mariana Araújo, Gabriela Faria, Andrey Lopes, David Teixeira, Matias Pato and Martim Simões – 3rd place in the 4x60m relay.

Collectively, Both the women's and men's teams achieved the title of District Runner-up.
