On April 24th, the Vagos Athletics Track hosted the Regional Track and Field Championships of the School Sports Regional Directorate of Education of the Central Region. Fifteen students from our school group were selected to represent Coimbra in an event that included approximately two hundred participants from schools belonging to the districts of Coimbra, Castelo Branco, Viseu, Aveiro, Leiria, and Guarda. The commitment and determination of our students, from the schools of Carapinheira, Arazede, Pereira, and Montemor, were once again put into action. Our participation included eight students from the beginners' team, two beginners' students, one junior student, and three referees.
The junior students repeated their collective title from the previous school year, becoming REGIONAL CHAMPIONS. Now, between May 28th and 30th, they will be in Aveiro, where they will participate in the National Championship.
Here are the new Regional Champions: Afonso Nélson, Afonso Ângelo, Bernardo Monteiro, Florêncio Manjate, Gustavo Lopes, João Costa, Rodrigo Fernandes and Sandro Reis.
In the youth category, Aline Rama, after finishing 5th in the high jump, joined the Coimbra Selection's 4x100m relay team, where she won the title of Regional Vice-Champion.

Luciana Gomes, in addition to finishing sixth in the hurdles, also became REGIONAL CHAMPION in the 4x80m relay. Finally, Sara Carnim achieved fourth place in the long jump and was crowned REGIONAL CHAMPION in the high jump. Érica and Sara will also be participating in the National Championships.
