Curriculum Enrichment with Tai Chi and Badminton
Students participate in extracurricular activities with Tai Chi and Badminton.
On January 21st, students from the Montemor-o-Velho School Group participated in educational and curricular enrichment activities involving Tai Chi and Badminton practices, with the collaboration of the Confucius Institute of the University of Coimbra and specialized teachers.
Tai Chi was offered to students of the Sports Technician Course, within the scope of the subject Gym Activities – Module 8628: Body and Mind. The session was led by Chinese teachers specializing in this modality and was supervised by Professor Beatriz Branquinho, from the Faculty of Sports Sciences and Physical Education of the University of Coimbra. Students had the opportunity to explore techniques, movements and wellness practices, combining physical and mental development.
Simultaneously, there were also teachers specializing in Badminton, who provided practical training to students enrolled in School Sports – Badminton, allowing them to learn specific techniques and improve their sporting skills.
The students were accompanied by their respective class teachers, ensuring the necessary pedagogical coordination during the activities.
This initiative provided an excellent opportunity for cultural exchange, sports development, and practical learning, promoting direct contact with Chinese wellness practices and local sports.
All content was taught in English, representing a significant added value for students in practicing the language and developing intercultural skills.
