
Six National Champions
The youth team is runner-up.
Between May 28th and 31st, the Aveiro district hosted the National School Sports Championships. In the Athletics category, the Montemor-o-Velho School Group was represented by eleven students and one teacher. In addition to the eight members of the junior team, a referee and two junior students who were part of the Central Region Selection were also present.
After winning the District and Regional titles, the junior students of the Athletics Team traveled to Aveiro to represent the Central Region in the most important competition of the school sports season. Throughout these days, the eleven students involved had the opportunity to run, jump, throw, and above all, interact with more than two hundred young representatives from all regions of the country.
With the National Championships concluded, the following results stand out:
• Sara Carnim (C9A) – National Champion in the High Jump;
– 3rd Place in the Long Jump;
• Erica Mendes (D8A) – National Champion of the Combined Test;
• Afonso Ângelo (D9B), Afonso Nelson (D9C), João Costa (D9A) and Rodrigo Fernandes (A9A) – National Champions 4x80 meter relay race;
• Afonso Ângelo (D9B), Afonso Nelson (D9C), Bernardo Monteiro (D9A), Florêncio Manjate (D7A), Gustavo Lopes (D8B), João Costa (D9A), Rodrigo Fernandes (A9A) and Sandro Reis (D9A) – National Runners-Up by Teams.
We extend our congratulations to all these students, not only for the excellent results achieved, but also for their dedication, team spirit, and exemplary representation of the Montemor-o-Velho School Group. We hope they continue to be a role model and a source of inspiration for their fellow students.
Finally, because it can never be stressed enough, it is important to remember that these achievements are the result of the combined efforts of students, teachers, operational assistants, technical assistants, parents and guardians, as well as the local authorities who support us daily. More than medals and titles, these results demonstrate that we continue to be a true Educational Community, united around the success of our students.
